Third-Party Tested Peptides

Janera Science supplies third-party tested peptides, analyzed by an independent laboratory, with each posted certificate of analysis listed against its lot number. Every certificate reports four tests: HPLC purity, ICP-MS heavy metals, USP sterility and LAL endotoxin. You can open the document for a lot before you order.

Four Tests on Every Posted Certificate

Each certificate answers four separate questions, and a result from one says nothing about the others. A material can be chromatographically pure and still carry endotoxin, or pass sterility and still carry trace metals. That is why the four are tested and reported separately.

Each certificate answers four separate questions, and a result from one says nothing about the others. A material can be chromatographically pure and still carry endotoxin, or pass sterility and still carry trace metals. That is why the four are tested and reported separately.

HPLC purity

High-performance liquid chromatography separates the sample on a column and reports the main peak's share of total detected area. It tells you how clean the detected material is. It does not by itself confirm that the main peak is the molecule on the label.

ICP-MS heavy metals

Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry ionizes the sample in an argon plasma and measures the elements present. Our certificates report arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury. It measures elements, so it says nothing about the peptide's purity or identity.

USP sterility

Sterility testing by the harmonized pharmacopoeial method in USP chapter 71 cultures the sample to check for viable microorganisms. A pass means no growth was detected in the sample tested. It does not test for endotoxin.

LAL endotoxin

The LAL assay detects endotoxin, a heat-stable component of the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria. It can survive conditions that kill the bacteria, so a sterile sample can still carry it. Endotoxin can activate some cell types at very low concentrations, which matters for in-vitro work (PLoS ONE, 2014).

Check a Lot in Four Steps

Lot-level documentation is useful because anyone can read it before ordering, without asking us for anything. The research peptide testing record for each compound sits on one page, and the check takes about a minute.

A certificate carrying a different lot number is documentation for different material. Our guide to reading a certificate of analysis covers the fields one by one.

Open lab results. Each compound has its own row.
Find the compound and its lot number. The lot identifies a single production run.
Open the certificate from that row. Where no certificate is posted, the row reads COA Unavailable.
Match the document to the lot. The lot number and strength on the certificate should match the row, and the vial you receive.

What the Purity Figure Measures

A purity percentage is the share of detected material that is the main component, so on its own it does not tell you how much peptide is in the vial. Counter-ions, residual water and residual solvent all occupy mass in a vial outside the HPLC purity figure (Pharmaceutical Research, 2023).

These are two different numbers, and a purity figure alone does not give you both. Our certificates report an assay in milligrams beside the purity result.

Our guide to peptide purity testing explains how the two relate.

Why Testing Is Done Per Lot

Two production runs of the same compound are two different materials, and their impurity profiles can differ even when both meet the same specification (ICH Q7). A document that describes a product line describes no vial in particular.

Lot-specific documentation ties a result to the production run your vial came from. It also means a question about a result can be traced to one lot and investigated.

Documents You Can Check

A lot-numbered certificate with named methods is a claim a reader can test, and that is the standard this page is built on. Each document records what a laboratory measured on material sampled from one lot, by named methods, dated to that lot's release.

Read that way, a certificate is evidence with a defined scope. It describes the material as tested. What reaches a bench has since been shipped.

Who Lab Tested Peptides Are For

Lot-level documentation is built for in-vitro research teams that have to account for their materials.

  • Laboratories recording reagent provenance, where a method section or QC file names the lot used.

  • Researchers comparing suppliers, who want the peptide testing process in writing before an order.

  • Teams running cell-based assays, where endotoxin and trace metals can move a result.

How do I match a certificate to my vial?

Find your compound on the lab results page and open the certificate from its row. The lot number and strength on the certificate should match the row and your vial exactly.

What does a purity percentage mean?

It is the main peak's share of total detected area on an HPLC chromatogram, under one set of conditions. Anything that co-elutes with the main peak can be counted within it, so purity describes proportion and is read beside the other results.

Why test sterility and endotoxin separately?

Sterility testing looks for living microorganisms. Endotoxin is heat-stable and can remain after the bacteria that produced it are killed, so a sample can pass sterility and still carry endotoxin.
